Advertising key conventions-https://mediajapneet10.blogspot.com/2026/01/advertising-key-conventions.html

Tatler CSP

 1) Look at the Tatler Media Pack. Go to page 2: How does the editor introduce the magazine?

The editor has described the magazine as a rich and luxurious magazine that is read by those with a wealthy living

2) Now go to page 4 of the Media Pack. Focus on the print magazine (NOT tatler.com - the website). List the key demographic details: age, gender %, ABC1 % (social class), HHI (Household Income), % of those living in London and the South East. What do these demographic details suggest about the average Tatler reader?

Tatler is used by over 1.2 million adults per month with about 73% being female. The average HHI is £261,572 with the average age being 41 and above. These demographics suggest how this is quite a older aged used magazine that have quite a expensive and well earning lifestyle.

3) Look at page 6. What do Tatler readers think about fashion? How much do they spend?

Tatler readers often have there own designer brand so they are very interested in fashion therefore it has many female readers and spend 1,894 per year on it.

4) Go to page 10. What are the special editions of Tatler that run throughout the year? What does this suggest about the Tatler audience? What about the pyschographic audience group that best fits Tatler?

The special editions are wedding guide spa guide, travel guide etc that run all throughout the year. This suggests that the Tatler audience is mainly women as these are quite feminine traits to be interested in so rich elder women fit as the popular audience group.

MEDIA LANGUAGE:

1) What different examples of typography can you find on the cover of Tatler? What are the connotations of the serif and sans serif fonts?

I can see they have used two main fonts for the poster. The connotations are so that it is clearer too read as its a very eye-catching and simple font that most can read and it is all in capital letters.

2) How do the cover lines appeal to the Tatler target audience?

Tatler cover lines appeal to a upper middle class audience as it has a very luxurious and edgy sort of tone

3) What are the connotations of the Tatler colour scheme on this particular front cover?

They are very light colours that just appeal to a person's eyes because of the little detailing and the beautiful pastel sort of colours

8) What representation of celebrity can be found in this advert? Think about how Audrey Hepburn is presented.

They used Audrey Hepburn as the main celebrity even though by the time this advert was made she has passed away. They decided to use her as she is a classic beautiful role model for many.

9) What representations of gender can you find in this advert?

There are two genders men and women

10) How are stereotypes subverted at the end of the Galaxy advert to reflect modern social and cultural contexts?
